Andy Pettitte would not like to work with catcher Ivan Rodriguez again this season, according to the Journal News.
Ryan Braun
Ryan Braun is out again on Wednesday due to his strained back/ribcage, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel notes. Gabe Kapler will start again in left field. Braun remains day-to-day.
Robert Delaney
The Twins will consider promoting reliever Robert Delaney in September, even though he is not on the 40-man roster, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Delaney, 23, opened the year at High-A and has since been promoted to Double-A. He is 3-3 with a 1.94 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 69 strikeouts, 15 saves, and a .199 BAA over 60.2 innings.
John Maine
Manager Jerry Manuel has decided not to pull one of his starters out of the rotation to help out the bullpen while Billy Wagner is on the shelf, according to the NY Daily News. John Maine was one of the main starters being considered to work out of the pen, but Manuel wants to keep him on regular rest while dealing with his shoulder problems.
Ryan Church
Ryan Church, who is recovering from post-concussion syndrome, made his second straight start in the outfield for Triple-A New Orleans Tuesday night, according to the NY Daily News. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Rickie Weeks
Rickie Weeks returned to the Brewers' lineup Wednesday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. He is battling a sprained left thumb.
Sean Gallagher
Sean Gallagher is expected to miss at least one start, and possibly two, due to a "tired right arm," according to the SF Chronicle.
Dana Eveland
Dana Eveland is a top candidate for a spot start in place of one of the ailing pitchers (Sean Gallagher and Justin Duchscherer), according to the SF Chronicle. Kirk Saarloos is also likely to cover the other spot start, but Dan Meyer will also be considered.
David Ross
The Phillies remain interested in catcher David Ross, but he would not be expected to replace Carlos Ruiz or Chris Coste on the 25-man roster, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He would likely work at Triple-A Lehigh, and join the Phillies when rosters expand in September.
Pedro Feliz
Pedro Feliz, who has been on the 15-day DL with lower-back inflammation, could return to the Phillies as early as today, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
