He is battling a sprained left thumb. | Sean Gallagher Sean Gallagher is expected to miss at least one start, and possibly two, due to a "tired right arm," according to the SF Chronicle. | Dana Eveland Dana Eveland is a top candidate for a spot start in place of one of the ailing pitchers (Sean Gallagher and Justin Duchscherer), according to the SF Chronicle. Kirk Saarloos is also likely to cover the other spot start, but Dan Meyer will also be considered. | David Ross The Phillies remain interested in catcher David Ross, but he would not be expected to replace Carlos Ruiz or Chris Coste on the 25-man roster, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
