Sports reports that Portland Trailblazers owner Larry Miller wrote an email to the representative of each NBA team announcing he will take legal action against any league organization willing to sign free agent Darius Miles for the "purpose of adversely impacting the Portland Trailblazers' salary cap and tax positions."
January 8, 2009 Yahoo! Sports reports that Darius Miles, despite having been out of Portland for nearly a year, is about to significantly crowd the Trailblazers' salary cap room. According to reports, Miles, who has attempted comebacks from knee surgery with both the Celtics and Grizzlies before being waived by both teams, is owed $18 million from Portland once he plays in 10 games this season. And though his stats indicate that he has only played in two games in 2008, NBA rules acknowledge the six preseason games that Miles participated in while with Boston. As a result, the former All Star is now only two games away, not eight as originally thought, from getting his big payday—and damaging the Trailblazers' chances at signing a key player for the stretch run to the playoffs.
