Grizzlies acquire Livingston from Heat, then waive him Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies acquired guard Shaun
Livingston and cash Wednesday from the Miami Heat in exchange for a 2012
conditional second-round draft choice.
Also Wednesday, Memphis waived Livingston.
Livingston, who was signed by Miami prior to the season, played in just four
games for the Heat this season, averaging 2.3 points and 1.0 assists. It was
the first he played since a gruesome knee injury sidelined him in

The AP reports that the NBA players' association will file a grievance against the Portland Trailblazers on behalf of Darius Miles. Portland owner Larry Miller recently wrote and email in hopes of preventing teams from signing and playing Miles. Should Miles play in two more games this season, Portland would take a substantial financial hit. Last year, his surgically repaired knee was deemed career-ending, meaning that his contract could come off of Portland's salary cap total.
Updating an earlier report, Yahoo! Sports reports that Portland Trailblazers owner Larry Miller wrote an email to the representative of each NBA team announcing he will take legal action against any league organization willing to sign free agent Darius Miles for the "purpose of adversely impacting the Portland Trailblazers' salary cap and tax positions."
Yahoo! Sports reports that Darius Miles, despite having been out of Portland for nearly a year, is about to significantly crowd the Trailblazers' salary cap room. According to reports, Miles, who has attempted comebacks from knee surgery with both the Celtics and Grizzlies before being waived by both teams, is owed $18 million from Portland once he plays in 10 games this season. And though his stats indicate that he has only played in two games in 2008, NBA rules acknowledge the six preseason games that Miles participated in while with Boston. As a result, the former All Star is now only two games away, not eight as originally thought, from getting his big payday—and damaging the Trailblazers' chances at signing a key player for the stretch run to the playoffs.
